Many of us are already familiar with the myriad benefits of matcha (finely ground green tea powder). For example, it’s known for its SUPER antioxidant properties—studies show that the concentration of antioxidants in matcha is 20 times the concentration found in blueberries and pomegranates! Clinical trials also suggest that theanine found in matcha lowers stress levels, that drinking matcha can lower risk of Alzheimer’s, AND boost metabolism. If we had unlimited bathroom breaks, we'd be chugging this stuff by the gallon! To get as much of this magic powder as possible,  we came up with a list of our favorite alternative ways to integrate matcha into our daily routines. Enjoy!

1. Face Mask Applied topically, matcha  is naturally cooling, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory. This face mask is incredibly soothing and revitalizing.

  • 1 tablespoon organic matcha powder

  • Water

  • 1/2 teaspoon raw organic coconut oil (if you have dry skin)

Mix drops of water into the powder until consistency is a smooth paste. Apply all over face and leave on up to an hour.

2. Popcorn

Combine 1 teaspoon of sea salt with 1 teaspoon of matcha for every cup of kernels you pop. Put the popped corn in a paper bag and sprinkle on the mixture, then shake for even flavor.

3. Ice Cubes

After brewing cold matcha, pour into an ice cube tray and freeze. Add these antioxidant boosters to your water, lemonade, even cocktails.

4. Porridge

Add a teaspoon of matcha powder to your morning oatmeal. Garnish with strawberries and bananas.

5. Smoothie

Whisk together a teaspoon of matcha with a little hot water. Once you have a liquid paste, mix well into your smoothie of choice.
