Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola was left devastated after his side were denied a stoppage-time winner in their 1-1 Premier League draw at home to Newcastle.
Bournemouth celebrated a stoppage-time winner when Lewis Cook crossed for substitute Danko Wattara to slot home, but VAR ruled out handball just two minutes later.
Slow-motion footage shows Wattara raising his arms above the visiting player and attempting to head the ball down, but it appears the ball may have hit his upper arm or shoulder, which is difficult to pinpoint even after dozens of slow-motion replays.
“It’s the most frustrating thing I’ve ever been on the bench,” said Iraola, who was book for protesting the referee.
“I went to talk to the referee, but I don’t think the referee could have done much more. He gave the goal, but VAR didn’t give him a second chance to see it.”
“He’s heard my complaints, but it wasn’t a target on him. He couldn’t do anything more. He wasn’t the one who made the mistake today.”
“I understand the rules very well. They will try to make สมัคร ufabet me think that it is reasonable, but I really don’t agree with it. It’s just common sense.”
“Anyone who plays football, sees the force of the ball hitting the net, will know immediately that it was not a hand, it was a shoulder,” the Spanish head coach said in frustration.
